9th GEO European Projects Workshop

Justin Buck (senior data scientist, British Oceanographic Data Centre) presented a poster on SenseOcean work at the 9th GEO European Projects Workshop held in Copenhagen on 15-16th June 2015. The Group for Earth Observations (GEO) is a voluntary organisation that brokers interdisciplinary environmental observations enabling increased data uptake by science, industry and the general public. The data is delivered via the Group for Earth Observations System of Systems (GEOSS) data portal.

As SenseOCEAN’s data management expert, Justin was ideally placed to be involved in the meeting which brought together representatives from each of the current EU observation projects, GEO and the European Commission as well as industry partners.

BODC’s involvement in this meeting and other associated projects, e.g. SeaDataNet (a standardized system for large oceanographic datasets) allows Justin and his colleagues to ensure that appropriate data management strategies and processes are developed and used within SenseOCEAN.
